When responsibility demands effort, sacrifice, consistency, or courage, we begin to reframe our withdrawal as practicality. We tell ourselves that someone else may be better suited, that we have already done enough, or that this is simply not the right time. In doing so, avoidance begins to look like thoughtful restraint.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over time, this becomes selective ownership. We show up fully when contribution is visible, rewarding, or validating, but step back when responsibility demands effort without recognition or immediate return. At work, this may appear as taking ownership of success while distancing ourselves from difficulty. In family life, it may mean avoiding uncomfortable conversations or responsibilities when we are tired or emotionally conflicted. In society, the same pattern appears when we assume someone else will act, believing our individual contribution is too small to matter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The deeper struggle is not whether we are capable, but whether we are willing to fully stand in what is ours to do. Each time we knowingly step away from a responsibility that belongs to us, something within us registers the gap between what we did and what we knew we should have done. This is the \u201chole in the soul\u201d\u2014not created by failure, but by repeated avoidance.
